Website Suite: Mark Palma – “Giardiniere”

Like Mark, so many self employed people now seem to be seeking ways to express themselves through their business, and it is work such as this that has inspired me to pursue a more editorial approach in portraiture.

Not so long ago Mark redesigned his own garden to accommodate a newly constructed shed. This of course is an understatement since the Giardiniere, Italian for garden(er) and a reference to his Italian-Aussie heritage, turned out to be a beautifully integrated and creative retreat. With it’s subtle mid-twentieth century references, Mark’s creation immediately appealed to me because it shares both a strong sense of place as well as contemporary design. Mark manages this in all of his garden design work but here he has also seamlessly mixed it in with his own very personal humour, interests and nostalgic references. I hope that you enjoy it much as I have.

Oh, and this is an especially appropriate feature since it was Mark who dubbed yours truly as “Fancy Boy”!!!
